American Royal Parade

Deb waved the Israeli flag and rode on the Ethnic Enrichment Commission's float in the American Royal Parade again this year. Puss n' Boots was there promoting the new movie, so we got our photo with him (it was cold that morning, so you're seeing me in my sweatshirt). The other commissioners in the photo represent Gambia and Norway (both commissioners). The parade route was from Union Station to the Power and Light District. The EEC float received First Place in the Float Division. Yeah!

2011 Ethnic Enrichment Festival

Whew. We hosted another booth this year at the Ethnic Enrichment Festival in Swope Park, Kansas City. The weather buffeted us about, what with the wind on Thursday night causing us to perform a major repair on our facade Friday morning, or the rain late Friday night which caused its own brand of havoc on our booth. But, all things considered, the wonderful volunteers served terrific food to 40,000+ attendees. This year we added dates and almonds to the offerings. Did you get a macaroon? We ran out by sunset on Saturday thanks to the persistent marketing by Nissim. We donated our leftover kosher food (lemon juice, almonds and dates) to Kansas City Jewish Family Services.

Israel support at local, rural church

We provided Israeli flags for Yom HaAtzmaut to the Open Range Fellowship in Lone Jack, MO. They're saying, "Happy Birthday, Israel!"

Sheila (photographer) and Dennis (bottom right in photo) help with the EEF Israel booth.

AND, this event is posted on the NY Israeli consulate site, too.
