Renaissance Festival

We had a presence again at the Renaissance Festival. The breeze was kinder to us this day. Sue Ellen sold her Israeli-component jewelry, and Deb and Mary sold dreidels, apricots, dates, almonds and Dead Sea cosmetics.

Jewish Arts Festival

The wonderful Jewish Arts Festival was held at the Jewish Community Center Campus. The Israel Spirit Committee sold hummus plates to the many attendees. Thanks to Erin, TJ, Mel, Nancy, Sheila, Dennis, Deb, Larry, Mary, Jeanne, Deb and our other Center volunteers. We sold a lot of hummus!

Renaissance Festival

Deb, Erin and Madison were at the Renaissance Festival as part of the Ethnic Enrichment Commission's presence. It was dry and breezy, which played havoc with our antique maps, but we prevailed. We sold dried fruit, dreidels, and Dead Sea skin care products. We shared a table with Indonesia.

2010 Ethnic Enrichment Festival (8/20-22/10)

It was hot, but we were there. It was so hot and humid that our passport stamp self-destructed! The Tikvah Dancers performed on Sunday, 8/22/10; Jeanne represented Israel in the fashion show; Deb read Jewish and Israeli stories in the kids' tent; Jeanne & Mary presented the Israeli flag in the parade of flags; Sue Ellen sold jewelry from Israel; and we sold a lot of felafel, hummus and lemonade. Thanks to ALL our wonderful volunteers.

Deb had an Israel Spirit table at this conference, distributed Israeli tourism materials and sold Dead Sea skin care products.

Kansas City Museum



Deb, Sue Ellen, Jeanne, Deb and Larry provided a focused educational experience on Israel with 15 middle school-age kids at the Kansas City Museum (Corinthian Hall). The kids saw a short tourism video, did some map work with Deb, learned some Israeli dances with Sue Ellen, heard a story read by Deb, learned to sing "HaTikvah" with Jeanne, had a snack of hummus, pita and Nutella, learned to play dreidel, and were given Israeli flags.

Memorial Day 2010


Deb presented the Israeli flag and Mel played taps at the Memorial Day rememberance at the Liberty Memorial. Mike Katzman from the Jewish War Veterans post here in Kansas City was also part of the ceremony.

Northland Ethnic Festival

We participated in the annual Northland Ethnic Festival. The Tikvah Dancers performed, we sold Ahava and Dead Sea products, Sue Ellen sold her Israeli jewelry, and we distributed tourism materials for Israel.

4-H International Night

The midwest gathering of 4-H was at the Hilton (near KCI) this year. Our participation included Tikvah's performance, selling hummus and brownie sundaes. Here is a photo of Erin and Deb after serving a lot of 4-H attendees.

Diplomatic Ball - The Spice Route


The annual EEC Diplomatic Ball was hosted this year by Israel, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Israel's contributions:
  • entertainment script (by Erin) about the Spice Route
  • color guard (Jewish War Veterans)
  • singing of the Star-Spangled Banner (Erin)
  • Tikvah performed (with other host countries)
  • coordinating dinner menu (Deb)
The attendance was excellent, and evening was enjoyed by all.
